KAWALERKA BY MICHAŁ ŻĄDŁO

Moving into a studio apartment can be a young person’s first step into adulthood. Michał Żądło explores this transition to independent living in his exhibition “Kawalerka” (“Studio Apartment”) at Galeria Splot in Sopot.

The exhibition opening on 16th October 2026 was a fascinating experience for me: rarely have I witnessed so many conversations unfolding in front of paintings among visitors, art academy lecturers and curators. We had long discussions, debating the paintings’ meanings, their interpretation and even technical aspects.

Michał Żądło presents works familiar from previous exhibitions alongside new pieces, including the painting that gives the exhibition its title, “Kawalerka”. Among the works on display is an untitled painting from 2024 belonging to the Abundius Collection, which was previously shown in the exhibition “Back in Black” at Cliché Gallery in late 2025 and early 2026.

“Kawalerka” is on view at Galeria Splot until 8th November 2026. The exhibition is curated by Karolina Kliszewska, who runs Cliché Gallery in Warsaw’s Powiśle district.
